Best Marathon Running Shoes? Testing the Nike Alphafly 3- Berlin Marathon Training
Hi, it’s Rich here, Head Trainer at Kinetic Fitness. This is the first post in a new insights series following my training journey to the Berlin Marathon.
Over the next 16 weeks, I’ll be sharing the build-up to race day in Berlin this September. The aim is to give a real, honest look at what marathon training actually feels like- not just the structured plan, but the ups and downs that come with it.
This isn’t about diving into training science or performance metrics like VO2 max or lactate threshold. Instead, it’s more of a real-world running diary- what the sessions are like, how the body feels, what’s going well, and what isn’t.
If you’re thinking about running a marathon in the future, or you’re in the middle of training yourself, hopefully this makes the process feel a bit more relatable and a bit less intimidating.
In this first week, I’m talking about my new race shoes, the Nike Zoom Alpha Fly 3 3%. It’s my first time using a carbon-plated shoe, so I’ll be sharing my first impressions and how they feel out on the run.
I’ll be sharing updates all the way through to race day in Berlin. If you’ve got any questions or things you’d like me to cover along the way, feel free to drop a comment below - I’d love to know what you think.
